：菁寮老街，後 壁鄉「菁寮」曾是八掌溪沿岸最繁華的聚落，俗稱「北勢街」的古老街屋即是最熱鬧的商店街，亦有數家「酒家」「查某間」「販仔間」「漢藥舖」「傢俱店」「美 容院」「自轉車店」「布行」「鐘錶店」「棉被店」「撞球間」聚集於此，顯見此地的高經濟能力，經過七十～八十年歲月的演變；當地古老街屋可為歷史做見證。

"Peishih old street" was the busiest shopping street in Jingliao. On this street, there are several bar and restaurant, woman cloth shop, motel, Chinese herbal medicine shop, furniture store, beauty shop, bike shop, clothing shop, watch shop, blanket shop, billiard shop, etc. It shows that this street can be regarded as the center of business at that time. About 70-80 years later this local old street has been listed in the history of Taiwan.
